Cozy Games That Don't Nag You to Keep Playing

The best thing a cozy game can do is let you put it down. Too many of them dress up as relaxing and then bury you in daily timers and nudges. The ones I keep coming back to do the opposite.

Sprout Street Diner is my current favorite example. It's a cooking sim with no punishing timers, where progress waits patiently for you. I opened it to redecorate more often than to actually cook, and it never made me feel bad for that.

Big Bass 3in1 also lands in this category for me, oddly enough. It's not a decoration sim, but it shares that same low-pressure DNA — you fish, you catch a few, you close the app, and nothing is angry with you.

The common thread is respect for your time. A game that trusts you to come back on your own terms is one I'll actually keep installed. The ones that beg get deleted, cozy aesthetic or not.
